Privacy Policy
As the owner of Hiya Pal, I am committed to maintaining the trust and confidence of my visitors to my website. In particular, I want you to know that Hiya Pal is not in the business of selling, renting or trading email lists with other companies and businesses for marketing purposes. Nae chance. But just in case you want to know more, this Privacy Policy has lots of detailed information on when and why I collect your personal information, and how I use it and keep it secure. Thanks for reading, pals.
Types of data I store:
To fulfil your order or design request, you must provide me with certain information (which you provided me through my website when placing your order), such as your name, email address, postal address, payment information, and the details of the product that you’re ordering. You may also choose to provide me with additional personal information (for a custom card order, for example), if you contact me directly.
Why I Need Your Information and How I Use It:
I rely on a number of legal bases to collect, use, and share your information, including:
- as needed to provide my services, such as when I use your information to fulfil your order, to settle disputes, or to provide customer support;
- when you have provided your affirmative consent, which you may revoke at any time, such as by signing up for my mailing list;
- if necessary to comply with a legal obligation or court order or in connection with a legal claim, such as retaining information about your purchases if required by tax law; and
- as necessary for the purpose of my legitimate interests, if those legitimate interests are not overridden by your rights or interests, such as 1) providing and improving my services. I use your information to provide the services you requested and in my legitimate interest to improve my services; and 2) Compliance with the Etsy Seller Policy and Terms of Use. I use your information as necessary to comply with my obligations under the Etsy Seller Policy and Terms of Use.
Information Sharing and Disclosure:
Information about my customers is important to my business. I share your personal information for very limited reasons and in limited circumstances, as follows:
Big Cartel
This is my website hosting service, you can find their Privacy Policy here.
Mailing Lists
As part of the registration process for my e-newsletter, I collect personal information. I use that information for a couple of reasons: to tell you about new products and offer you discounts; to contact you if I need to obtain or provide additional information; to check my records are right and to check every now and then that you’re happy and satisfied. I don't rent or trade email lists with other organisations and businesses.
I use a third-party provider, MailChimp, to deliver my newsletter. I gather statistics around email opening and clicks using industry standard technologies to help me monitor and improve my e-newsletter. For more information, please see MailChimp’s privacy notice. You can unsubscribe to general mailings by clicking the unsubscribe link at the bottom of any of my emails.
I hold your name and your email address, I never add customer details to my mailing list, you will only be on this list if you have signed up and consented yourself. You can see Mailchimp’s Privacy Policy here.
Google Analytics and Googlemail
I use Google Analytics to collect standard internet log information and details of visitor behaviour patterns. I do this to find out things such as the number of visitors to the various parts of the site. This information is only processed in a way which does not identify anyone, it helps me work out what my customers like and how I can improve my business. I do not make any attempt to find out the identities of those visiting my website. You can see Google’s Privacy Policy here.
Paypal
I use Paypal to process payment transactions for my orders and services. You can see Paypal’s Privacy Policy here.
Data Retention:
I retain your personal information only for as long as necessary to provide you with my services and as described in my Privacy Policy. However, I may also be required to retain this information to comply with my legal and regulatory obligations, to resolve disputes, and to enforce my agreements. I generally keep your data for the following time period: 6 years.
Your Rights:
If you reside in certain territories, including the EU, you have a number of rights in relation to your personal information. While some of these rights apply generally, certain rights apply only in certain limited cases. I describe these rights below:
- Access. You may have the right to access and receive a copy of the personal information I hold about you by contacting me using the contact information below.
- Change, restrict, delete. You may also have rights to change, restrict my use of, or delete your personal information. Absent exceptional circumstances (like where I am required to store data for legal reasons) I will generally delete your personal information upon request.
- Object. You can object to (i) my processing of some of your information based on my legitimate interests and (ii) receiving marketing messages from me after providing your express consent to receive them. In such cases, I will delete your personal information unless I have compelling and legitimate grounds to continue using that information or if it is needed for legal reasons.
- Complain. If you reside in the EU and wish to raise a concern about my use of your information (and without prejudice to any other rights you may have), you have the right to do so with your local data protection authority
If you have any such requests or would like any more information, please email me, Niki Sammon, at [email protected].
